• Culpeper County Animal Shelter
• Culpeper Food Closet

• Keep a Family Warm, Culpeper Department of Social Services
• Lake of the Woods Fire & Rescue
• Pamper Me Pink Mammogram Fund
• SAFE
• American Heart Association Jump Rope for Heart
• American Red Cross
• Habitat for Humanity

ASWB Green Team promotes environmental stewardship

Sustainable, eco-friendly, and recyclable are watchwords of the ASWB Green Team. In 2018 the team sponsored a Green Challenge Week of activities that staff could implement at home and at work, purchased recycling containers and arranged for single-stream recycling in ASWB offices, implemented a system for recycling K-cups, and facilitated a shred day. The team collaborated with the Philanthropy and Social Committee to collect 100+ surplus binders from ASWB offices and distributed them to schools in Culpeper and Orange counties. In the community, the Green Team and other ASWB employees met at Yowell Meadow Park in Culpeper to weed the Pollinator Garden after heavy rains took a toll. ASWB also donated a tree to Rockwater Park. Both parks are close to ASWB offices.

Red Cross benefits from skilled service contribution of ASWB staff member
Director of Member Services Jennifer Henkel, a licensed social worker, deployed to California through the American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Program to assist with relief efforts for people affected by the deadly Camp Fire. ASWB donated five days of paid time off to support Henkel’s contribution of skilled services to the Red Cross and implemented a personnel policy for skilled service leave available to all staff interested in volunteering in times of national crisis or emergency.
